End-of-Life Options: Navigating Difficult Healthcare Discussions
Stefanie Elkins, Compassion & Choices; Stephanie Marquet, MD, East Bay Palliative Care and Hospice; Doctor Rev. Mark Estes, Kindred Hospice
This interactive and informative session will provide an overview of end-oflife options including how to answer questions about voluntary stopping of eating and drinking (VSED), palliative sedation, and the California End-ofLife Option Act law and status. We will explore how to address these end-oflife options and how they interplay in advance care planning. Tools and resources will be shared to empower and encourage better end-of-life conversations that focus on patient-centered care.
A session from the Critical Conversations: An Advance Care Planning Summit for Advocates program hosted by the ACCMA and the East Bay Conversation Project on October 11, 2018.
